There are composting worms in the Sun Mar compost tumbler! So not only did I get great compost from this tumbler I also got a bunch of red wigglers. I will add them to my worm bins. I have been using it for 2 seasons now. I use it all year but I particularly like to use it in the winter for 3 reasons:
- It is made out of plastic so it won’t rust out during the freezing and thawing weather.
- It takes more and more kitchen scraps if I add the proper amount of browns (which are shredded leaves in my case) because the composted material keeps shrinking.
- It is pest resistant so hungry animal visitors can’t get in to eat any food scraps.
I Can Keep Adding Kitchen Scraps As The Scraps Compost!
It is amazing how this works. In the summer I take out small amounts of compost every week or so from the inner core. But before the winter starts I like to empty it completely so there will be lots of room over the winter for my kitchen scraps! When I think it is getting full, the next thing I know there is more room as things compost and shrink down.
